When enjoyed in moderation, the flavonoids in chocolate help reduce the incidence of blood clotting, a leading cause of heart attacks and strokes. Flavonoids are a larger family of aromatic compounds found in the seeds and skins of plants, such as grapes, cocoa beans, and citrus fruits. Dark chocolate contains more flavonoids than any other food — including green tea, black tea, red wine, and blueberries.
